WEBINAR: Generating quality introductions from centers of influence

Longtime MDRT members Paresh B. Shah, CFP, and Aurora L. Tancock, FLMI, CFP, will discuss strategies for connecting with centers of influence in order to create an increasing flow of quality introductions. Building relationships with centers of influence is an important part of growing a practice, but there’s no single way to do it, as evidenced by Shah and Tancock’s distinct experiences.

The discussion will be moderated by 40-year MDRT member and United States Community Leader R.J. Kelly, RICP, MSFS. There will be time for a live Q&A session after the presentation.

2020 Annual Meeting+Global Conference Registration Opening

Connect and engage during the 2020 Annual Meeting and Global Conference Virtual Event, from August 3-7, 2020.

2021 MDRT Membership Requirements

MDRT understands that the current global situation has affected each of us and our clients in different ways. With that in mind, MDRT is announcing the 2021 production requirements with consideration for the groups below.

MDRT Members
  • 2019 and 2020 members: The production requirement for eligibility has been waived. Members who joined in either 2019 or 2020 can join in 2021 without meeting the published production requirement. Please reference FAQs for special rules.
  • Lapsed members prior to 2019 and first-time members: The requirements have been adjusted due to the effects of the pandemic.

Can a Mentee Register for 2020 MDRT Meetings?

We have made the decision to conduct the 2020 MDRT Annual Meeting and 2020 MDRT Global Conference as one virtual event. MDRT will not be hosting a physical meeting in Anaheim or Dubai. Members will be given priority for registration for 2020 MDRT Virtual Event. If you have advisors who are mentees, they will be able to register after member registration, provided there is still availability; please note that seats are not guaranteed and recent meetings have sold out.

All mentees who are currently enrolled in the program, will be able to register for the virtual meeting this year, with no production requirement threshold.

Mentees will be eligible to register for this meeting, space permitting, if three criteria are met:

  • You are enrolled in the Mentoring Program by March 1, 2020.
  • Your mentor is approved for current MDRT membership and has registered to attend the Global Conference.
  • You have achieved at least 50 percent of the MDRT membership production requirement (USD 48,500 in commissions or USD 97,000 in premiums). You may attend a second time a mentee if you achieve 75 percent of the MDRT production requirement (USD 72,750 in commissions or USD 145,500 in premiums). 2019 production must be reported and all certifying letters received and verified by March 1, 2020.

After the member registration period, if all criteria have been met, the mentee will receive an “Approved to Register” email by March 31, which will contain instructions and links for registration. Payment is due at the time of registration.

If a mentee has previously attended the meeting as an MDRT member, they may not attend as a mentee.

Can Agency Managers Attend the 2020 Virtual Event?

The 2020 MDRT Annual Meeting and Global Conference are joining to become one Virtual Event, 3-7 August. Show your advisors you support their success by joining and connecting with them at the 2020 Virtual Event.

HOW IT WORKS
Five (5) MDRT members from one agency must be registered. Once 5 MDRT Member names, who are already registered, are entered into your profile a registration link will be provided.

  • Heads of traditional or multi-line agencies/firms
  • Sales or unit managers
  • General agents
  • OSJs
  • Managing Partners
  • Applicants must personally supervise full-time career agents, advisors or sales representatives in an agency or firm.

What is the MDRT App?

The MDRT App is a members-only resource that provides 24/7 access to personalized content based on the member’s likes and needs, packaged for quick learning to inspire business growth. To continue or gain app access, current and new members must apply and be approved for the current year’s membership. Members can download the app through the Apple or Google Play Store and log in with their myMDRT account.

2021 MDRT Production and Dues

MDRT cares about you, our valued members, as well as your hard-working, trusting clients, especially while navigating the current uncharted terrain. As a result, we are waiving the membership production requirement in 2021 for anyone who was an MDRT member in 2019 or 2020. The 2021 production requirement for prior-to-2019 members or those applying for the first time will be adjusted based on the 2020 requirement due to the effects of the pandemic.

MDRT is fiscally sound in this economy and has no plans to increase dues in 2021. Dues will remain at USD 550.

What is the MDRT Academy®?

The MDRT Academy is a new, individual membership association and community that delivers resources to help financial advisors develop skills and increase their productivity to reach MDRT membership-level production. The MDRT Academy’s resources can be accessed through a mobile app or website, mdrtacademy.org.

Who can participate?
We are offering complimentary membership in a test phase of the MDRT Academy to:

  • Financial advisors in the United States and Canada who do not yet qualify for MDRT. This includes U.S. and Canada aspirants in the MDRT Mentoring Program.
  • Advisors can apply for the MDRT Academy by either downloading the MDRT Academy app on their iPhone or Android device, or visiting the website mdrtacademy.org and selecting “Apply” and providing production details and a certifying letter from their company directly in the app or online. Keep an eye out for more Academy updates during the complimentary membership.

Where can I get additional information?

How does the Mentoring Program work?

Members and mentees can be from anywhere in the world. Advisors’ online profile preferences will match them to suggested colleagues, and MDRT will give that team the tools to guide mentorship. The program is open year-round online.

There is no charge, but there is one requirement:
The matching, content, tips, tools and results that come from this interaction are all part of the MDRT experience. The only requirement is that nonmember mentees must report their year-end production to MDRT annually.

There are three ways for advisors to be involved in the program:

  • A nonmember mentee
  • MDRT peer mentoring for a member mentee
  • An MDRT member mentor

What is the MDRT Ambassador Program?

The MDRT Ambassador Program was established to reinforce companies’ and other industry organizations’ training and development efforts, and engaging members and nonmembers around the world. MDRT ambassadors are high-profile MDRT member speakers who deliver presentations on various topics.

MDRT members are available to motivate your team by:

  • Sharing best practices that led to their success
  • Speaking in-depth about a specific topic such as prospecting, handling objections, staying motivated and growing their practice
  • Revealing more about MDRT’s tools and resources that your team can use to increase their productivity and professionalism

Is there a speaker fee?
MDRT ambassadors do not charge a speaking fee. The host organization is expected to pay all of the speaker’s related travel expenses, accommodations, ground transportation and meals.

How do I get a speaker from MDRT?
Simply fill out the speaker request form available under the Resources tab, or provided by an MDRT staff member, and return it with your meeting and speaker request information. Once received, MDRT will identify the best speaker based on your needs/requirements. Ambassador selection is at the discretion of MDRT. MDRT requests at least three months advance notice of the requestor’s program completion deadline.
