MDRT Special Book Club Event – September 20

On April 10, 2012, United States Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills was critically injured by an IED while on patrol on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, losing portions of both legs and both arms. Mills struggled through the painful and anxious days of rehabilitation to regain the strength to live his life to the fullest. With enormous willpower and endurance, the unconditional love of his family, and a generous amount of faith, Mills shocked everyone with his remarkable recovery. His extraordinary journey is recounted in “Tough As They Come,” a New York Times bestseller that speaks to facing a future that’s drastically different from the one you’ve imagined.

The discussion will be moderated by Ryan J. Pinney, LACP, a 13-year MDRT member and Top of the Table qualifier who served in three different branches of the United States military over the course of 13 years. There will be a live Q&A session after the presentation. To get the most out of the time with Mills, members must read the book prior to the event and come with questions to ask the author.

2021 Global Conference Meeting Announcement

MDRT’s 2021 Global Conference will not take place in Singapore from August 29 -September 1. MDRT explored holding an in-person meeting in Singapore, however, government-mandated capacity limitations and associated safety protocols make that infeasible and impracticable.

Instead, all members should plan to attend the 2021 MDRT Annual Meeting Virtual Event taking place June 7 – 9. You will see incredible presentations, hear cutting-edge ideas from the best minds in the profession, engage in live interactions with members from around the world, and leave inspired to achieve new levels of success. In addition, we’re delighted to announce that MDRT will retain the world-class content that was to be shared at the Global Conference and deliver it to MDRT members starting in September as an extension of MDRT’s Productivity Action Plan.

The MDRT Academy® is a go!

On November 1, the MDRT Academy officially launched as an individual membership association and we couldn’t be more excited. For the past three years, we’ve used the Academy’s pilot phase as an opportunity to fine-tune our offering, developing more than 700 articles, videos and podcast episodes, as well as goal tracking tools, in-depth Performance Guides, and our cutting-edge Critical Mindsets. We’re confident that any advisor that aims to reach MDRT-qualifying production in 2022 and beyond will find the resources they need to get to that next level.

Community connections

One of the things that’s most exciting about the MDRT Academy is that it gives advisors the opportunity to connect with others like them — and with long-time MDRT members who can give them tips for reaching higher levels in their careers. The Connect section is the place for advisors to dialogue about challenges in their practices (and MDRT members have been known to chime in with their expert advice!) or to celebrate success together.

Performance Guide palooza

Our Performance Guide library continues to grow! We now have 14 in-depth guides that touch on important areas of the profession, from improving time management to tackling common objections. The newest Performance Guide, “Make joint work work for you,” advises members on working jointly with a more senior advisor, digging into how joint work can help up-and-coming advisors achieve and learn more on the job.

Advisors can join anytime with no deadline. The annual membership fee is $275 and expires on December 31 of each year.
